I have installed Zen Cart to a directory. How do I rename or move that directory?

Will there be any problems with my ZC if I just move the entire thing to my main directory?
Is there anything I need to change in my database or config files?

 

Moving your site to another folder on your server

  1. Determine the new foldername where your Zen Cart™ files will be running from
  2. Go into Admin > Configuration > Sessions and change the Session Directory to reflect the new folder name. If you cannot do this, see the alternate approach in step 5 below.
  3. Move/Rename the folder. You may need to use your FTP program to do this.
  4. Your /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.phpfiles are used to point Zen Cart™ to the right folders. In those files, you need to update several entries to match the new path information:
    • DIR_WS_CATALOG
    • DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG
    • DIR_FS_CATALOG
    • DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE
    • DIR_WS_ADMIN (in admin)
    • DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN (in admin)
    • DIR_FS_ADMIN (in admin)

    Note that the configure.php files are normally “read-only”. You’ll need to change their permissions to “writable” before you can upload your changes. Be sure to note level the permissions were at before changing, so that you can put them back to the read-only permissions again after updating.

  5. If you could not set the Session Write Directory in step 1 above, you can use a utility to do it for you. The goal is to make sure that the new path information (specifically the DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE setting in your new configure.php file) matches the Session Write Directory setting. If it doesn’t, you may end up with difficulties logging in to the Admin area or maintaining login sessions in the store. The Fix Cache Key Utility from the Downloads > Troubleshooting Tools area on the main Zen Cart™ site will help you to do this if you need assistance. There is no harm running it to have it check that things are set properly. Be sure to delete the file from your server when done.

DONT FORGET TO MOVE YOUR htaccess FILE.

How to Replace Laserjet 4000 Fuser assembly/Rollers

Step 1: Fuser assembly
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Unplug the printer.
WARNING: To avoid minor burns, wait 30 minutes for the fuser to
cool before continuing with this procedure.
3. Remove the duplexer if installed. If it is not installed, remove the two
duplexer slot covers by pulling away from the first.

4. Turn the printer so its rear cover faces forward. Open and extend the
rear output bin.

5. Flex the tray slightly to remove one side at a time (see Figure 2, callouts
1 and 2).
6. Loosen the two screws in the fuser assembly.

7. Grasp the sides of the fuser assembly and pull it out of the printer.
NOTE: When removing the fuser, the plastic cover can come off with
the fuser remaining in the printer.
8. Install the new fuser assembly (align the left side first). Push the fuser
assembly into the printer until the two tabs on both sides of the fuser
assembly press against the plastic on the printer.
9. Replace the two screws. (Turn the screws counterclockwise until they
click, then turn them clockwise to tighten.)
10. Replace the tray, inserting one side at a time.
11. Replace the duplexer slot covers or the duplexer.
12. Continue with the next section to remove and replace the transfer roller.
Step 2: Transfer roller
1. Put on gloves.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the transfer roller, never touch the
transfer roller with bare hands.
2. Turn the printer so the front is facing forward.

3. Open the top-cover and remove the toner cartridge. The transfer roller
is underneath the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the black rubber part of the roller. Skin
oils on the roller can cause problems with print quality.
4. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, pry the right end of the metal shaft out of
place, then the left end.
NOTE: When the transfer roller is replaced, make sure the black collar
is oriented properly, with the open end down.
5. Continue with the next section to remove and replace the Tray 1 pickup
roller.
Step 3: Tray 1 pickup roller
1. With the top cover still open, open Tray 1 and locate the roller. The Tray
1 pickup roller is in the center of the Tray 1 pickup assembly.
2. Grasp the envelope entrance cover and pull it straight away from the
printer.
3. Pry open the blue latch on the roller.
4. Lift the roller out.
NOTE: To replace the roller, make sure the pin in the roller lines up with
the hole in the shaft.

6. Continue with the next section to remove and replace the separation
rollers.

Step 4: Separation rollers
NOTE: Remove and replace the separation rollers and feed rollers on

all trays except Tray 1.

1. Remove the tray. Open the door on the left, inside front of the tray.

NOTE: The separation rollers are inside the paper trays.
2. Release the latch and lift the cover inside the tray.
3. Pinch the release at the left side of the roller and slide it off the shaft.
4. Replace new roller by sliding it on the shaft. Replace the cover.
CAUTION: Be sure that the roller slides on fully and clicks into
place. Be sure to close cover completely by pressing until it snaps
into place.
5. Continue with the next section to remove and replace the feed roller.
Step 5: Feed rollers
1. Move the printer to the edge of the work area for access to the feed
roller area.
NOTE: The following procedure is the same for all HP LaserJet 4000
series printers repair; there are two (2) rollers for the HP LaserJet 4000t and
4000tn and one roller for the HP LaserJet 4000 and 4000n.

2. Remove the tray from the feeder. The paper feed roller’s are inside the
feeder.
3. Pinch the release at the left side of the roller and slide it off the shaft.
4. Line up the new roller with the flat part of the axle. Slide the roller onto
the axle and rotate until it locks into place.
5. Continue with the next section to reset the maintenance page count.
Step 6: Reset the maintenance page count
When all of the previous steps are complete, reset the maintenance page
count. To reset the maintenance page count:
· Press and hold down the left side of the ITEM and VALUE buttons on
the control panel while turning the printer on. (The printer will not reset
properly if the ITEM and VALUE buttons are held down on the right
side.)
RESET MAINT COUNT appears in the display, followed by INITIALIZING.
After a few seconds, READY will appear in the display. At this point, the
printer’s maintenance count has been reset.

Dell Inspiron 1526 SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Drivers on Windows 7

SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Drivers on Windows 7

LAB Computer Long Island have been upgrading a few of our PCs and Laptops with Windows 7 this evening and hit upon a problem with the SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio device that came with my Dell XPS M1330, Inspiron 1525 laptop. A quick google confirmed we are not the only one having problems.

Since we have now solved the problem we have post it here on my blog as we are sure it will be a popular search on Google in the coming months as the masses move to the new OS.

The symptom

Following a fresh install of Windows 7 (I haven’t tried an in place upgrade as I just don’t trust ‘em !) the OS sees the Sigmatel device and reports it to be working, but the sound just doesn’t work. Any attempt to download and install the latest Vista drivers also fails to cure the issue.

The fix

Download the latest x32 or x64 (as appropriate for your computer) Vista driver from the Dell website and leave the EXE in a folder somewhere

Or get them direct from us, click for the 32 bit driver or for the 64 bit driver

Username: dell and Password: dell

Right click computer, and choose manage, then device manager

In the Sound, Video and Game controller group you will see a device called “Windows High Defintion” – delete this by selecting and pressing delete

Now having removed this device from your system you should run the Dell Sigmatel Driver EXE you downloaded previously

Your system will prompt for a restart upon install

When you restart you will get the reassuring sound of the Windows 7 start up tune and all will now be well !
